Bamboo grove and a butterfly painted with ink and watercolour on tinted rice paper.

Bamboo is a very popular symbol throughout Asia. In Japan, it's a symbol of good luck, it also signifies moral integrity, modesty, tenacity, and strong character. The beauty of bamboo has been admired for centuries in poetry, calligraphy, and paintings.

Rice paper is tinted with green-blue wash. Butterfly is actually a Maltese endemic transplanted into a bamboo grove - anything is possible with a brush, after all. The watercolours are transparent, natural greens and soft ochre yellow lights, resembling real-life bamboo shoots. The photos don't show it well enough.

The painting is signed, sealed with artist's personal seal and wet-mounted on another sheet of backing paper. It is ready to be framed or mounted on a scroll. Please use acid-free materials when framing. It is manually cut, please leave a few mm error margin for dimensions. Note that colours may differ due to differences in devices
